It’s really good news for the Nagpurians as the preliminary plan for the construction of much-anticipated GMC cancer centre has got a positive nod and it has been reported that the construction of the first phase is likely to begin within the next month if the funds of Rs.20 crore are made available.
Recently the city has got a dubious reputation in number of cancer patients. Taking the seriousness of the issue the state govt approved the ‘Cancer Hospital’ by upgrading the radiotherapy department at GMCH.The sketch of the three-storey building including the ground floor was recently approved and waiting for the approval from the civic body and fire brigade. As per information the sanctioned map includes radiation, surgical, paediatrics, medicine and oncology departments.
Dean of the GMCH Dr.Sajal Mitra said that cancer hospital to be built in on the campus of the GMCH and it will be named as GMAC Cancer Centre. And it will be in the vicinity of TB ward. As per information the centre will provide latest treatment for different types of cancer.
And for this a fund of Rs.76.10 crore has received an administrative approval for the purpose of the construction of the building. As per information, the construction will be done by Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA).
