RTMNU conducts workshop on film-making

Nagpur: The workshop titled ‘Projecting Imaginations’ was conducted by Mumbai-based film-maker Vinod Pandole in a film-making workshop at the Department of Mass Communication, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU).

On this occasion a short film ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was brought to life through the story of a poor village girl becoming an IAS officer, in the film-making workshop.

The film was launched at a ceremony on Thursday by the hands of Pravartan Tatte, Chief Executive Officer, Rajkarne Media Waves Pvt Ltd. Pandole, who earlier worked as executive producer with Star Plus and Zee Entertainment, is founder of Swayams Films Pvt Ltd, Mumbai. Speaking at the film release function and concluding ceremony of the workshop, he narrated his struggle as a young man from a small village who dreamed of making it big in the film industry.

“You must have a dream and then the determination to fulfill it. The present situation is so good that if you have the skills and the quality, nothing and nobody can stop you from achieving your goals,” he told the students.

Tatte urged the students to adopt a professional attitude “Youths from the big cities do not have more talent than those from places like Nagpur. It is just the professional approach that makes the difference”.

He stressed upon the need for the students to understand and exploit their full potential. The short film titled ‘Shikshanacha Marg’ features actors Megha Rokade, Keval Jiwantare, Vilas Chafle, and Pooja Parale.

Students Viklesh Shende, Vinay Nimgade, and Vaishisht Mandavgade were the assistant directors. The cameras were handled by Deepak Kushwaha and Ameya Taksande. Neeraj Nakhate did the editing.

Amol Borkar and Tushar Dharkar looked after production management, and Girish Kubde, Rakshit Sawla, and Utkarsh Amrit took care of sound management. Rutuja Shende and Madhuri Kurjekar took care of costumes while Diksha Chichghare and Shweta Kamdi did the make-up. Property management was done by Dipali Patle, Disha Kareshiya, Aishwarya Meshram, and Sujit Randive.

In his introductory remarks, Dr Moiz MannanHaque, Head of the Department, said that the workshop was one of the several events planned during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Department of Mass Communication. He said, the goal of the department was to produce quality professionals and responsible citizens who would help build the society and the nation. Pandole, an ex-student of the department, was felicitated on the occasion. Kanchan Kuradkar presented a poem. Pooja Parale conducted the ceremony and Disha Kareshiya proposed a vote of thanks.
