Sports Day is a platform to showcase talent and efforts put in by the students. Sports Day at Essence International School is not only about competition, but it is also about having fun, being physically active, learning the basics of sports and building coordination and teamwork. Students display their talent, self-confidence, patience, zeal and sportsmanship.
The two days Sports Day celebrations for juniors and seniors were held at school on 18th and 19th December 2019. Chief guests were Mr. Pramod Chandurkar (President, Maharashtra Archery Association) and Dr. Amit Samarth (Founder and Director of Pro Health Foundation). Guest of honour was Ms. Saloni Allot (Cricketer, Ranji Player).
They highlighted the importance of time spent outdoors for sports which gives students the opportunity to learn and enrich themselves. The days were filled with events like Drills (pompom, umbrella, bamboo), Races, Skating, Yoga for Juniors and Lazium, March Past, Yoga and Pyramid, Taekwondo for Seniors.
Other matches that took place inhouse were Chess, Basketball, Football, Tug of War, etc. Parents too participated enthusiastically in the races conducted for them. The young achievers were awarded with certificates and medals in different categories. The pique of the show was the announcement of the champion house trophy.
All students cheered for their respective houses which eventually belonged to Iris’s house. Sports stars in the Junior category were Mst. Raj Jaiswal and Ms. Swasti Thote. Student of the Year was Mst. Varun Nair and Sports Star for Senior category was Mst. Saumya Dhawale.
The sports days were filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The School Principal and Management thanked everyone who contributed their services either directly or indirectly for the grand success of the mega event. Sports Day ended with National Anthem.
