Under the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav – III edition, the Lawn Tennis Tournaments will be conducted from January 17 to 19 at MSLTA Tennis Academy, Ram Nagar, Nagpur.
Addressing media persons NDHTA treasurer Vijay Naidu said this year there will be three main categories – Boys and Girls under-12 (singles) – Boys and Girls under-16 (singles) – Men’s Open singles and doubles all matches will be conducted as per AITA and MSLTA standard. Tournament supervisor Supriya Chatterjee will be responsible for the scheduling and draws. Nagpur District Hard Court Tennis Association (NDHTA) will provide the logistics support and staff like chair umpires and ball boys. Entry fee per player per event is only Rs 200.
Maximum of two entries per player is permitted. Cash prizes will be given by Khasdar Krida Mahotsav organizing committee. Winner will get Rs 5000 and runner-up will get Rs 3000 in singles category. In the doubles category, winners will share Rs 7000 and runners-up will share Rs 5000. Cups and trophies and certificates will also be given. NDHTA team is working hard to prepare the tennis courts. There will be total of six clay courts and two synthetic courts available for the tournament. Tournament director is Dr Sudhir Bhiwapurkar and tournament secretary is Vikram Naidu. Tournament co-ordinators are Vijay Naidu and Dr Darshan Dakshindas on behalf of NDHTA. On behalf of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav organizing committee, the coordinators are Mr Satish Wade and Pragati Patil, whereas assistant co-cordinator is Sanjay Deshpande. Entry forms will be available at the MSLTA Tennis Academy and all major Tennis centers in Nagpur. Last date for giving entries is January 15. The draws will be announced on January 16.
