Dharampeth Science College organised a drug awareness and sensitisation programme on Wednesday, 8th January 2020 for college students.
PSI Ingole of anti narcotics department of crime branch Nagpur delivered a guest lecture by giving various examples on types of drugs, what are symptoms of it and how it is spoiling the youth of our country. He emphasized the disadvantages of these drugs , narcotics,ghutaka , cannabis, marijuana,charas ,hashis, opium and alcohol etc.And falling prey to such addictions could be detrimental to once life. He also informed that 92 percent heroin come from Afganistan.He appealed to students that age group between 18-25 is most vulnerable to these bad habits so one should be alert in life and create awareness in college and society. He also explained the various causes why teenagers get addicted? And what precautions to be taken and followed in general to lead a successful life and to have good career. He also threw light on 1985 -NDPS Act.
The students got motivated by his talk and got very good information on this current topic prevailing in society in general. At the end of the lecture students also took an oath that they will abstain from all types of drug addictions and will help to spread awareness in college and society at large.
On this occasion, in the beginning of the program Prof. Atul Moghe explained the theme of the lecture and Dr.Archana Kulkarni, Vice Principal of the college proposed Vote of thanks. Present on the occasion were police constable Mr.Bondare, Ms Badole and other staff members of the college.
Principal of the college Dr.Akhilesh Peshwe and the President of Dharampeth education society Advocate Ulhas Aurangabadkar conveyed their best wishes for organizing this awareness programme.
