Bhargavee Sarve and Aditi Narsinghkar combined well to share 19 points as Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) girls outclassed women powerhouse Saraswati Kanye Sangh (SKS) 27-19 to qualify for the semifinals of the U-16 basketball tournament of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav on Thursday.
While Bhargavee scored a team-high 10 points, Aditi contributed nine points as NBYS played aggressively in the first half to take a decisive 12-point advantage at the lemon break by winning the first and second quarters 10-4 and 8-2 respectively.
Though SKS made a comeback by winning the third quarter 4-0 they failed to carry the momentum as both the teams netted nine points each in the final frame. For SKS Pratiksha Katare (10) fought a lone battle.
Earlier the home teams from Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana in both the boys and girls section registered facile victories to qualify for the semis. While SNG-A girls outplayed PBG 30-6, their boys counterparts made light work of DKM 54-10.
In an exciting boys quarterfinal, Parth Borkute (22) and Parikshit Datir (21) gelled well to guide HKM to an eight-Point (60-52) win over NASA.
