Defending basketball champions in the previous edition of the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav Vision Academy men and Dharampeth Krida Mandal women kick-started their campaign in the season 3 of the multisport festival posting facile wins on Sunday.
The five-day inter-club championship in the senior category began at the at the Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) courts in Bajaj Nagar courts on Sunday. While Vision men drubbed PDSA-A 60-11, DKM women defeated Range Police 32-17.
In an exciting men’s contest, Navyuwak krida Mandal got the better of City Police 58-40 with Himanshu Shende emerging as the top scorer with 20 points.
In a women’s section game, Vision women registered a come-from-behind victory over Saraswati Kanya Sangh (SKS) 54-43. Siddha Deshmukh (24) and Smruti Iyer (16) combined well to share 40 points for the winners. For SKS, Bhagyashree Kolwadkar (16) and Smita Pande-Bhakre (15) played well.
