Riding on brilliant centuries by Yash Rathod and Siddhesh Wath Vidarbha took first innings lead against Karnataka in Col C K Nayudu Trophy match at VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, here on Thursday.
Resuming at 100 for 3, at stumps Vidarbha amass 450 for 6 and thus took 60 run lead . While Rathod remained not out on 174 in 293 balls hitting 21 boundaries, Wath knocked off 121 in 119 balls with the help of 16 boundaries and five sixes. Mangesh Raut (71, 105 b,8×4, 2×6) was giving a good company to Rathod when the third day play stopped.
Earlier in the morning overnight batsman Nachiket Bhute (26) returned to the pavilion by adding just two runs in his overnight score.
However after his departure Rathod and Wath sent rival bowlers on leather hunt. They made 165 run partnership for fifth wicket. . After Wath’s departure Yash Kadam contributed 22 before he was caught by Abul Hasan Khalid b off Shivakumar . Thus Vidarbha lost their sixth wicket for 320. Then Rathod and Raut frustrated the rival bowlers and stitched up an unbroken 130 run partnership for seventh wicket.
