City Journalist and their families at the lawns of Nagpur Press Club here were enthralled with popular Hindi songs of yesteryears presented by well-known musical group Madhura’ led by noted singer Rajesh Durugkar.
The musical nite was organised as a part of annual get-together of media persons and their families by Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust (TPBT), in association with Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUJ) and Patrakar Club of Nagpur (PCN).
Another well-known singer of the city Yashashree Bhave was also a star attraction. The Musicians were Pawan Manwatkar (Synthesizer), Ashok Tokalwar (Tabla), Sanjay Barapatre (Octopad and Dholak) and chal’artist Sumati Durugkar (Bongo). Naresh Dongre (Lokmat), child artists Raghav Deshpande and Prithika Wankar also presented the latest numbers.
Popular announcer Rajjak compered the musical show. Sound and lights were provided by Shubham and Mithun respectively. District Collector Ravindra Thakre was the chief guest on the occasion. Pradip Kumar Maitra, President of TPBT, PCN and MUW, Shirish Borkar, President Nuwa President TPBT General Secretary, PCC President, Brahma Shankar Tripathi, NUWI General Secretary and PCN Secretary, and Rahul Pande, PCN office-bearer were prominent present.
Award winning journalists, including Bhupendra Ganvir (senior Journalist). Yogesh Pande (Lokmat), Anand Dekate (Lokmat), Manish Soni (senior journalist), Saurabh Khekde (Dark Bhaskar), Pradip Maitra (Hindustan Times), Ramesh Marulkar (The Hitavada), Pravin Lonkar (Maharashtra Times). Tikaram Sahu (Dainik Bhaskar) Narendra Chore (Sakaal), and Mangesh Raut (Loksatta) were felicitated by District Collector Thakre for their outstanding contribution in journalism.
Meritorious children of journalists were awarded cash prizes for their outstanding performance in the HSC and SSC examinations. Kunj Behari Agrawal and Kumkum Agrawal of Uddhaar,’ a social service organisation, awarded cash prizes to meritorious students Jahnvi Jugalkishor Dixit. Srushti Shirish Borkar, Harshita Bipin Singh, Swati Awadh Behari Mishra, Shreya Hemant Salodkar, Gunjan Satyendra Bharadwaj. Agrawal couple awarded gold medals to Srushti Borkar and Jahnvi Dixit for scoring 97 percent marks and 93.69 percent marks in the SSC and HSC examinations respectively.
Similarly, cash prizes were awarded to these meritorious children by Harsha Dubey in the memory of senior journalists late Satyanarayan Dubey and Vivek Dubey.
District Collector Thakre, Kunj Behari Agrawal and Kumkum Agrawal appreciated the ongoing work being done by Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust for the welfare of journalists and their family members in association with NUWI and PCN.
The office bearers and Governing body members of TBBT, NUJ and PCN worked hard to make the event grand success.
