Gul Makai, a biopic of Pakistani activist Malala Yousufzai and her fight against the terrorist group. Directed by Amjad Khan the film begin in the year 2006 where the Taliban has infiltrated Pakistan.
Malala (Reem Shaikh) who stand strong against the terrorist groups for their ban on education of girls.
The film focus on the details struggles of Malala for pursuing her education and not kneeling against the terror group. Her parents (Divya Dutta, Atul Kulkarni) who are concern about her safety yet support her in the war against them, encourages her to follow her passion.
The teen with the support of her family then decides to seek education and inspire other girls as well to do the same becomes the target of the group. To impose a terror among the people, the militants shot a bullet on Malala which left her face partially paralyzed. But Malala miraculously survived the fatal attack and became the face of promoting right to education for girls and winning a Nobel Peace Prize in the year 2014.
The script does not allow actors to do much in the film. As we think one will get to know more about Malala the film marks its end. The film evokes apathy among the audience and there is nothing new to offer as we all know the story of the brave activist Malala.
