Orange city cultural foundation along with Nagpur Municipal Corporation is all set to feature best international and national level films in the 4th Orange city International Film Festival.
The inauguration of the 4th Orange city International Film Festival (OCIFF) was done on February 6 by the hands of eminent film maker Madhur Bhandarkar in presence of Mayor Sandeep Joshi, director Dr Jabbar Patel, OCIFF Chairman Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, Animation guru Ashish Kulkarni, Suprant Sen Secretary General of Film Federation of India and many eminent dignitaries at VANAMATI Auditorium.In this film festival, eminent film maker Madhur Bhandarkar was honored with OCIFF Award for outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema along with Orange City Cultural foundation award to Ashish Kulkarni who is also known as the animation guru.
Chairman OCIFF Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram while addressing the gathering said that “Nagpur city has come on the map of film festival as we the film lovers give so much love to such film festivals. Entertainment is byproduct and our aim with such film festivals is to provide ideas about various topics through movies and try to educate the people. Nagpur Municipal Corporation organizes 2 film festivals in a year and this is the fourth edition of Orange City International film Festivalâ€.
Meshram informed that in the three day film fest 27 movies and 28 short films will be played from February 7 from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm at INOX Jaswant Tuli Mall.
Mayor Sandeep Joshi said that as we need Roti Kapda Makan we also need films and I promise you that such films festival will be organized in the city and keep on entertaining you.
Dr Jabbar Patel said that “I am happy that this event took place and happy that eminent personalities are present here. Municipal Corporation is responsible for organizing film fest across world and I am happy that NMC has helped us in organizing such event in the cityâ€.
Speaking about Madhur style of direction Patel said that “Madhurs thinking at socio-political contents angle is a very different way his ideas are different and very unique and that is what makes him different from othersâ€.
Madhur bhandarkar while addressing the gathering said that “Cinemas is a miracle of society, I have gone less to school and more to films and that’s how I got my passion in film making. We can find various socio political topics on which a film can be made so I make such movies which can give information to the worldâ€.
Remembering his initial days Madhur said that “I use to sell film cassette of films made by Dr Jabbar and that’s how I earn in weekends and learnt the art of Film Makingâ€.
Ashish kulkarni the animation guru said that “The cinema in our country is of 105 year old and we are the largest producer of films in the world with 17 language films and 19 language TV programs. But we had only 2school on film making FTII SRFTI while only one school for animation even though 97% of people have learnt animation while working in a firm and that’s how they could tell their stories to the people. We have story telling in our genes. while Animation cuts across cast, culture, language, age and that’s the uniqueness about animation. Artificial intelligence skills are going to rule for next 20 yrs in our lifeâ€.
The film festival marked its opening with Liza’s Tale (Ukrain) and Istorializy (Russia) films directed by Alexander Zhovna.
