Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in complete sense facing challenges in crediting salary for their employees. The delays in salary aggravated the problems of this telecom company. As per the Voluntary Retirement Scheme(VRS) scheme announced by the union government,70000 employees working in all over the country have opted the VRS option but after retirement they are yet to receive their pension and pending salaries. Besides this, the people who are already working are not received their payment. And retirement benefits for the employees are also remaining as a question mark, no clarity assured on this matter.
In view of this, the BSNL employees who have taken VRS and working employees on Tuesday observed nationwide dharna agitation in front of the BSNL offices. And hundreds of employees from city participated in the agitation.
On January31 more than 550 employees working in Nagpur district took VRS. As per assurance the employees were to get their two months salary and other dues.However, the employees did not get the benefits or the salaries.
The secretary of the employees association Naresh Kumbhare alleged that the BSNL has not deposited 11months installments of LIC and society. The company even not deposited the 11 months GPS amount. Due to all these reasons, the employees who opted for VRS became frustrated.As more than 50 percent employees have taken VRS the remaining employees are working hard to maintain the quality of service, but these employees too have not received their two months’ salary. The company even not deposited their LIC and society contribution.When employees asked clarification from the company they are not receiving satisfactory answers which ultimately increased unrest among the employees. After observing the one day dharna agitation the employees have decided to observe hunger strike on February 24.The agitation which was organized under the banner of All Union and Association the coordinator Naresh Kumbhare, chairman Prashant Landge, Sameer Khare, Prashant Ambade,Harendra Pande, Pancham Gaikwad and other employees and officers took part in the agitation.
