The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sadabai Raisoni Women’s College, Nagpur organized Nirbhaya’, a talk show on Women’s Safety in India ‘De Batti’ for the students and staff recently. Vinita Sahu, DCP, Nagpur City,Smita Singalkar, advocate, High Court, Dr SapnaSharma, motivational speaker,Krutika Dhanwate, director, Alter Ecoworks India Pvt Ltd,Ankit and Sonali were the panelists during the event.Various cases of eve-teasing, molestation and how the law can be implemented to curb such crime against women were discussed by the panelist.
All the speakers expressed their views and thoughts on the occasion. DCP Vinita Sahu emphasized on efforts needed to provide safety to girls.”Our safety lies in our
hands. All women need to be financially independent. Overall mentality of society, while upbringing girl child must be changed. In case of tragic incidents, victims must express their
problems on appropriatetime.We must have physical and mental strength in order to cope up with any problems,” panelists said. A special team of “Black Warriors” demonstrated numerous methods of selfdefence.The event was coordinated by NSS volunteers under the guidance of Amina Vali, principal,SRWC and Prof Prachi Sasankar, NSS PO-SRWC.
