Riding on Prashant Nimbarte’s hat-trick defending champion The Times of India knocked out The Hitavada by seven wickets in 22nd OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Ambedkar College ground, here on Thursday.
The tournament has been organised in association with SBI and the HCL Technologies. With this defeat the challenge of The Hitavada has come to an end.
Batting first The Hitavada were all out for 94 in 20 overs thanks to Prashant Nimbarte claimed first hat-trick of the season conceding just five runs. He was well supported by Sandeep Wardhane and Sandeep Dabhekar who claimed two wickets each. The Hitavada Ronel Michael (38) and Kaushik Bhattacharya (19*) offered some resistance.
In reply, TOI achieved the target in 9.1 overs losing just three wickets. Rupesh Bhaik (35), Pratik Siddharth (18) and Dabhekar (16) completed the formalities. Rotarian Nishikant Kashikar gave the man-of-the-match trophy to Nimbarte.
