The civic administration of the city on Sunday conducted the anti-encroachment drive in which NMC had razed more than 100 encroachments from the footpaths in Gandhibagh and Itwari areas and seized 7 truck loads of materials. During the drive, the team razed the shop of divyang and got heavy criticism for their move.
As per the rule, after getting any government aid for setting up shop the beneficiary has to set up the shop on designated place. But the shop was set up on footpath. At first he asked the NMC officials for time to shift the materials from shop. Later on he abused the NMC officials. And created tension over there.
Afterwards, the anti-encroachment drive razed the encroachments from Nanga statue to Teen Naal chowk.And encroachments from Sarafa lane and medical market area to cotton market in Gandhibag.And NMC officials stated that whenever they implemented the drive in Gandhibagh the cart operators always took shelter in police quarter area and when the team leave the place they again set up their shops on the road.
