City swimmer Himani Fadke secured first place in entire state in 58th Sea Swimming Competition at Gateway of India in Mumbai on Sunday.
In 16 to 25 years girls category, braving the tides Himani swam 5 km distance between Sunk Rock to Gateway of India in just 43.38 minutes and achieved first place. She got fastest swimmer honour and received Rs 2,000 and memento.
In the 16 to 25 boys section, Smit Dorlikar swam 5-km distance in 43.03 minutes and finished runners-up. He got Rs 1,500 and memento. In the same category, Sharayu Fartode achieved fourth place clocking 51 minutes.
Deaf and dumb swimmer Pranav Kohale covered two-kilometre distance in just 15 minutes and achieved second place. In the same category, Akshay Navle finished fourth. In under-13 girls section, Prerna Chaple clocked 29 minutes in two-kilometre event and finished fifth. In one-kilometre event, Sagar Chaple and Trirthak Jivne too succeeded in completing the event within stipulated timing.
All these swimmers have been trained under the guidance of national coach Sanjy Batwe and Ambazari lake and Kamgar Jalyan Mandal swimming pool.
