With continual development of Nagpur city and various facilities being provided to Nagpurians, the city known for its orange culture has yet again proved to be a technologically developed, greenest and safest place to live in Maharashtra state and hence a Smart city which has been ranked first in the state and second in the country.
Recently 100 cities in the country were given rankings according to their development by the Ministry of Urban Development of union government. All the selected cities had their name under the Smart City project in which Nagpur city stood in the top position for last six months. However, it declined to second rank n the month of February while compared to cities nationwide but it still remained on the first position in the state.
The cities included in top 10 list of being the Smartest in India are Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Bhopal, Surat, Indore, Kanpur, Vishakhapatnam, Vellore, Baroda including Nagpur.
The Smart city project has been taking leaps from installing CCTV cameras at 706 junctions, 140 wifi point given in the city, several environmental sensors to show the air quality index of the region and now the current developmental plans like Project Tender Sure for which rupees 650 crore will be utilized. The project is based out in Bharatwada, Pardi and Panapur which is said to be providing facilities to 1.13 lakh residents.
Similarly, project Home Sweet Home is also on the verge of completion in which 1024 families affected by other projects will be given a house. Along with this other facilities such as solar power, green building, sewerage treatment plant and rain water harvesting will be provided.
