The timely interference of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari proved as a blessing for the team of divyang sportspersons who were finding difficulty to get confirmed reservation in Pune bound train.
Due to the difficulty, they approached Gadkari and narrated their problems. Gadkari promptly wrote to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal requesting latter to help out the divyang persons. The sportspersons are proceeding to Pune to attend the State-level tournament for divyang school students. The tournament is organised at Balewadi Sports Stadium by Social Welfare Department.
About 148 students from various schools in Nagpur District were shortlisted for participation in the tournament. The officials of Social Welfare Department went for group booking but railway officials said as all Pune bound trains are nearly full confirmed booking is not possible. Left with no option,SukeshniTelgote, officer, Social Welfare Department and Ramesh Bhandari, President, State Divyang Schools Association, met Gadkari and gave him representation about their problem. After going through the representation Gadkari realised the difficulty of divyang persons and immediately wrote to minister Piyush Goyal and asked him to help the sportspersons so that they do not miss out on participating in the State-level tournaments.
While they had appealed for railway reservation of seats, they got the booking of entire two coaches to travel without any trouble. The decision of Railways occurred within a matter of four days post submission of letter to Gadkari.
