After the nationwide lockdown declared in India, there might not be a shortage of essential commodities. However, as tobacco, kharra, and cigarettes do not come under essential commodities, the sales of these products are stopped in city. On the contrary, the sales of these products are continuing in city amid lockdown.
As per the information, the dealers are selling from their homes. They prepare the kharra packets at home and along with cigarettes these items are secretly sold in chowks and other places. In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus, the administration is taking stringent measures to stop the malpractice. This has controlled the sale of tobacco products to some extent but known persons and regular customers get it anyhow.
The dealer gives the contact number and the needy calls the dealer. However boys selling kharra and cigarettes are still seen loitering in many corners of the city. Many youth keep the kharra packets in their pockets and slyly give it to known customers behind Chandramani Nagar garden. Such products are also sold at Rameshwari Nagar chowk, Dighori chowk, Mhalgi Nagar chowk, North Nagpur Kamal Chowk, Rani Durgavati Chowk, Jaripatka Chowk and other areas. But police are neglecting such dealers. The selling of these products are really dangerous as people are altering the social distancing and can be hindrance to prevent the rapid increase of deadly coronavirus.
