The nation is currently undergoing through a lockdown to fight against the deadly coronavirus. Amidst all the troubles, the team of IIT Ropar has brought us good news. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has developed a trunk that can use UV radiation to sanitize what you purchase from the market. To keep all the goods you buy or use coronavirus-free, you should put all the groceries and even currency notes in the sanitizing trunk.
As per the information, the trunk when commercialised, can be available at less than Rs 500. It can take up to 30 minutes to sanitize the items and then another 10 minutes to cool down before the items can be taken out from it.
According to the team of developers, all items which are being brought from the outside including currency notes, vegetables, milk packets, any items ordered through delivery, wrist watch, wallets, mobile phones or any documents be placed in the trunk before being used.
A senior Scientific Officer at the IIT Ropar Naresh Rakha has said that the measures such as social distancing and restricted movement from home alone can’t win the battle against Coronavirus and therefore it is extremely important to be careful about anything possible in the coming days and weeks.
The device is based on ultraviolet germicidal irradiation technology used in water purifiers.
