In view of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and subsequent guidelines by the Government of India for withholding events, gatherings and aggregations in all forms; the Board of Management of DMIMS DUÂ have decided to hold a national convocation ceremony on virtual platform, as advised by Prof Ved Prakash Mishra, Eminent Educationist and Honorable Pro -Chancellor of the University.
This will enable the University to fulfill the mandate of UGC of awarding degrees to graduates within 180 days of passing the examination, even in this challenging period, and thus avoid inconvenience to students who aspire for further studies or jobs. The degrees and awards will be conferred to students in absentia. The notional convocation ceremony will be held on Monday, April 27 at 5 pm through digital platform.
The event shall be streamed live by the University on its website as well as on YouTube enabling the degree recipients to witness it from the comforts of their homes.
The extended ceremonial convocation will be held subsequently after restoration of normalcy. In tomorrow’s notional convocation ceremony, total 791 degrees will be conferred to students from different faculties which include 336 from Medicine faculty, 165 from Dentistry, 98 from Ayurveda, 163 from Nursing, 19 from Allied Health Sciences, 8 from Physiotherapy and 2 from faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences. These degrees include 502 undergraduate, 210 postgraduate, 1 DM, 68 Fellowship, 8 M Phil and 2 PhD awardees.
DMIMSDU is the first Deemed to be University to hold such kind of notional convocation in the country.
