During the first day of third phase of national lockdown in the Country from today, the opening of liquor shops by various state governments is a much distress step -said the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) which strongly opposed the decision which is quite alarming in present conditions.
The CAIT said that this would defeat the very purpose of lockdown and will destroy the advantages and benefits accrued from 40 days of national lockdown in the Country. Besides, it will also a gross injustice to the traders of the country including Delhi, who have been asked to shut down their business establishments which have been followed by the traders across the country in its true letter and spirit.
National President of CAIT Mr. BC Bhartia and Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal strongly criticized the opening of liquor shops by various state governments and said that this decision of the governments is a live proof of their mental bankruptcy and selfishness approach of earning revenue and with such a decision, the State Governments have played with the health of the citizens and which needs to be condemned in strongest words.
Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal said that the Country is passing through a very fragile phase of Corona t where more than 2000 people are getting affected by Corona every day. It is very unfortunate to open liquor shops across the Country. Both Mr. Bhartia & Mr. Khandelwal while raising a question said that this decision gives a feeling that the Country has won the battle against Corona.
On the one hand the liquor shops have been opened while on the other hand the traders who are real revenue generators of the Government have been asked to close their shops. It is shocking that every liquor bottle carries a warning that Liquor consumption is harmful to health and yet in lust of earning revenue, the said shops have been opened. which makes it clear that the governments never bother about the health and well being of the people but more concerned about revenue.
Shri Bhartia and Shri Khandelwal said that today liquor shops opened in many places across the Country which witnessed gross violation of social distancing due to which possibilities of contracting with Corona by large number of people cannot be ruled out. Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal have demanded all the State Governments of the country that either liquor shops should ordered be closed or traders should also be allowed to open their shops.
