All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur has played a commendable role in aiding the migrant population, stranded in the city, to reach their native homes. Team of dedicated doctors from the Department of General Medicine, ENT, and Community Medicine have successfully screened and granted medical fitness certificates to nearly 2300 migrants in the last 4 days.
The process involved thermal scanning for fever, screening, and clinical examination for respiratory complaints. The majority of the migrants flocked in from MIHAN and various parts of the city. The majority of the migrants were natives of UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand, and were working in the city as daily wage labourers and construction site workers.
Despite the large numbers, the staff at AIIMS Nagpur did an impressive job ensuring, the social distancing norms were being followed and that the process went on smoothly and comfortably.
Under the leadership of Director & CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, SM; the institute endeavours to contribute to the society in all ways possible.
