A move to provide speedy justice to the consumers,Grahak Panchayat has stated that consumer courts in state should be allowed to function full time amid lockdown.President of Grahak Panchayat(Vidarbha chapter) Shyamkant Patrikar,Vidarbha Convenor,Dr.Kalpana Upadhyay and Vidarbha secretary Leeladhar Lohare have made this demand to Maharashtra State Consumer Complaints Redressal Forum.
As per the memorandum during the period of lockdown when highcourt and Supreme court are functioning normally, strangely all consumers court are closed. In fact during lockdown, doors of consumer courts should be open for all because through videoconferencing, eight to ten people can be heard at a time.So it is the best mode to conduct hearing by consumer courts. It is also said that barring Sundays, consumer court should function even on all public holidays.
