Being an Environmentalist and a Hindu this year’s theme of the environmental day “Biodiversity†was sort of blessing as it came along with Vata purnima, Said Hema Deshpande, sub-regional officer of Maharashtra Pollution control board, Nagpur.
Where the whole world is witnessing lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, the environment seems to have benefited slightly. Nature seems to have been busy reclaiming its spaces. Among other things, it is getting to breathe and clean itself a little, in the absence of the constant flurry of human activities.
“In the last few decades, the earth has lost a large amount of its biodiversity, which can be seen affecting us in a harsh way. It is very much important to use them wisely and strengthen the roots of the earth again” added Deshpande.
Deshpande further suggested conserving as many lives possible besides only promoting human lives which have become dependent on industries and pollution.
