It has been reported that the locust swarm which had wreaked havoc in the crops across the nation has entered the Pench Tiger Reserve.
As per information, on Wednesday; it has been moved from there to Ajni village in Nagpur district where drones were used to spray pesticides on crops and trees.However, no crops damage has been reported yet.
In the Pench Tiger Reserve, which is spread across parts of Maharashtra and Madhyapradesh, but no spraying of pesticide was conducted there as it is the protected area.As per official sources, on Wednesday morning drones were used to spray pesticides on trees and crops in Ajni and locusts were mostly found on ‘ber’,’babool’and ‘Anjani’trees.The official added that the locust swarms were now moving towards Mouda tehsil in the district.
