Inflated power bills, MSEDCL to reach out to people

The increase in electricity bill has turned citizens angry, to deal with the situation the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has decided to reach out to people regarding the bills.

In this the company officials are meeting public representatives and officials from other departments and explaining to them that the bills are inflated because they are for three months.

The power distribution company has also created WhatsApp group to spread awareness among people.

Electricity meter readings were not taken after March 23 due to the lockdown and therefore the citizens were not issued bills. The citizens were however asked to send their meter readings. But very few people did that.

Now as the unlock 0.1 has begun the MSEDCL resumed normal work from June 1.  The bills for three months are being sent to the people. However, because of the lockdown, financial condition of most of the people is not good and the inflated power bills are adding to their woes.

The people are angry about the bills and making rounds of the MSEDCL officers. While some social and political organisations are staging protest against the inflated bills.

Therefore, in order to deal with the angry citizens peacefully, MSEDCL has decided to reach out the people and solve the issue.
