State Government has issued a GR on Tuesday for reorganising State Board for Wildlife with the Chief Minister as the Chairman and Forest Minister as Vice-Chairman.
The body has been reorganised under Section 6 of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Aditya Uddhav Thackeray, Environment and Tourism Minister, Dattatray Vithoba Bharne, Minister of State for Forest, Additional Chief Secretary (Forest), Principal Secretary, Tribal Development,PCCF(Head of Forest Force), Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, Commissioner, Animal Husbandry, Commissioner, Fishery Development, Officer of the rank of Director General, Police, Officer of the rank of Brigadier in Army, representative of Director, Wildlife Wing, Mantralaya, representative of Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, representative of Botanical Survey of India, and representative of Zoological Survey of India are the members of the board.
The new body includes following members: Representative of Bombay Natural History Society, representative of Wildlife Conservation Trust,representative of Eco-Pro Organisation, NGO from Chandrapur, Anuj Khare, Pune, Vishwas Katdare, Ratnagiri,Bittu Sahgal,Mumbai, KishorRithe, Amravati,Poonam Dhanwatey, Nagpur, Kundan Hate, Nagpur, Yadav Tarte-Patil, Chandrapur, and Suhas Waigankar, Kolhapur. Nitin Kakodkar, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Nagpur,is the Member-Secretary.
