Aditya Thackeray, Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister during a video conference with bureaucrats of state lauded Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for success achieved on COVID-19 management in Nagpur city. He said that the leadership of Mundhe was a key point in keeping infection rate in city to minimum.
Thackeray interacted with officials of Nagpur, Nasik and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday morning taking stock of the situation on novel coronavirus front.
Municipal Commissioner’s decision to kick start contact tracing and fast treatment and enmass quarantine proved to be beneficial and Nagpur is now tops in both counts, low in death and high in cure of COVID-19 patients.
Thackeray laid stress on house to house survey and mass isolation to successfully combat COVID-19 pandemic. During the interaction, Mundhe demanded life support ambulance from State Government so that it can come handy in critical times to stabilise the serious patients. He also mentioned various measures initiated through Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to implement the strategy rolled out by Maharashtra Government like daily meeting and dialogue with experts in CoronaWar Room that enables faster decision making thus providing edge in fight.He also informed about the success achieved by upgrading civic hospitals and readying 500 beds with oxygen facility so that it can be ready if the cases rise rapidly. He also informed about programme undertaken by civic body to create awareness among pregnant women, TB patients, people with history of leprosy and cancer.And the helpline which was started for senior citizens and physically challenged so that the civic administration can provide help for the needy. Mundhe also shared details about measures taken in COVID-19 hot spots of Satranjipura, Mominpura, Naik Talao, all dense localities, and managing to steer the community out through the critical phase.Thackeray also applauded the tie-up by NMC with Radha Saomi Satsang and readying Covid Care Centre with 500 beds ready and to be scaled up to 5,000 when needed.
