Wardha: Heavy rainfall from last few day in Wardha has led to over flow of many water bodies in the district. Dams situated in Wardha district are almost full and the administration has issued alert for villages situated near Upper Wardha dam as its doors may be opened any time during next 72 hours.
The water storage that was expected to be achieved by August 31 has already been achieved following good rains. Water from Wardha, Malu, Pak river and Jam rivers comes into Upper Wardha dam and these rivers are overflowing.
The water stock which expected to reach 342.50 meter till August 31, has already reached water level at 341.80 meters at the dam . At present 616.35 mcm water storage is available which is 89.78 percent of the total storage capacity. This is very good storage situation as compared to last year as only 41.86 percent stock was recorded till this date last year.
Presently, 112 mcm water flow is accumulating in the dam and therefore the dam is likely to be 93 percent full by August end. Considering the rainfall in catchment area, doors of the dam may be opened any time in next 72 hours. Taking cognizance of it, administration has issued notice to tehsildars of Chandur Railway in Amravati district and Arvi in Wardha district.
