After more than 24 hours of search and rescue operation 16 people were found dead in the debris of a five-storey building which collapsed in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday.
While 9 people were rescued and admitted in hospital for further treatment. Total 16 people lost their lives in the horrific accident which includes 7 male and 9 female. While one person is reported to be missing and the search operation is being carried out.
The incident took place in Mahad city of Raigad district, around 170 kilometres from Mumbai. The ‘Tariq garden’ building, according to local residents, collapsed at around 6:50 pm.
Police officials from Mahad, Shrivardhan and Mangaon divisions of Raigad rushed to the spot and soon began rescue operations along with NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams.
The multi-storey building was 10 years old, with over 40 apartments. People rushed outside the building to a safe spot after the first three floors collapsed.
