After the Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown, the passenger trains were cancelled. The railway commenced ticket counters so that passengers can cancel their tickets. The South East Central Railway cancelled tickets of 4.02 lakh passengers from May 22 to August 31, 2020.As per information; the railway had to return Rs.25, 97, 46,228 to passengers for cancelled tickets.The funds of lakhs of passengers were stuck with railways for three months after lockdown started in March. The passengers were demanding immediate opening of reservation counters to get their money back. As per the order of the railway board, the ticket counters in Nagpur, Bilaspur and Raipur divisions of South East Central Railway were re-opened from May 22.The passengers started cancelling their tickets to get back their money after ticket counters were re-opened. Tickets of 4.02 lakh passengers were cancelled in South East Central Railway alone from May 22 to August 31.
