Union Minister Nitin Gadkari while addressing various road construction contractors said that while working on road construction while working on road construction quality of construction should be maintained. Efforts should be made to minimise the cost of construction.
Due to heavy rains asphalted roads starts deteriorating within five years. Hence a company taking guarantee of ten years for maintenance and repairs of these roads would only be allotted the work of construction of these roads. This is because asphaltation would be viable alternative only if a company takes guarantee for their maintenance and repairs for ten years. Minister further said that efforts are being made for minimising expenses incurred on road construction. Similarly, contractors constructing asphalted roads should also try not to compromise on the quality of construction. And they can deploy any type of technology available in the world. But they should try to reduce the expenditure.
