Nagpur Mayor Sandip Joshi on September 16 voluntarily set a weekend Janta Curfew in Nagpur till September 30 with an aim to break the chain of the deadly virus which was claimed thousands of lives in Nagpur till now and is rapidly spreading in the city.
However, NMC Chief Radhakrishnan B made clear that the call for the Janta Curfew is a voluntary action to promote social distancing and spread awareness among people and break the chain. NMC chief on his twitter said “We have got lot of queries on call of janta curfew on weekends. There is no official notification or order issued by NMC. It’s completely voluntary one. The need of the hour is avoiding unnecessary movements outside. Masks and maintaining social distancing are key #stay home stay safeâ€

There will not be any strict action taken against the people as the move of Janta Curfew was a voluntary measure set by Mayor Sandip Joshi. Police will only ensure and promote the use of masks and maintain social distancing. Police officials will be on patrolling to various areas to ensure that people follow rules and make announcements to spread awareness.
