Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti has launched stir again for the separate Vidarbha state. As per information, it will perform holi of Nagpur Pact all over Vidarbha on September 28 and protest against this accord will be lodged. Ram Neole, convener of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti said that Nagpur Accord was inked on September 28; 1953.As per the accord, Vidarbha became part of Maharashtra on May 1, 1960.But none of the 11 clauses in the agreement were complied with. The Vidarbha got nothing but exploitation.
The pact has also been violated as it was not followed. The Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti will perform holi of Nagpur Act at village and Tehsil levels to lodge protest on September 28.According to Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti,it was assured that 23 % fund in government’s treasury will be given to Vidarbha.But this did not happen.Rs. 75000 crore meant for irrigation and Rs.50000 crore meant for roads were diverted.131 irrigation projects including Gosekhurd are not complete even after 30 years. The Vidarbha region remained poor due to which there is no option other than independent state has left.
