Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Nagpur has collaborated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (ABVIIITM Gwalior) to conduct online HACKSAGON 2020. HACKSAGON 2020 is a national level project competition jointly organized by six IIITs, ABVIIITM Gwalior, IIIT Una, IIIT Ranchi, IIIT Lucknow, IIIT Nagpur, IIITDM Kurnool and IEEE Bombay Section. Projects based on hardware and hardware in combination with software are submitted by the participating teams from all over India.
This competition provides the students with a platform to solve some challenging problems of daily lives and present their innovative ideas with other competitive students. HACKSAGON-2020 is based on three categories i.e. hardware, software and hardware with software-based projects. Dr Anurdha Singh, Secretary HACKSAGON 2020 informed, “In the first round we had participation from 455 teams from all over India who had presented their ideas. All teams submitted problem statement and abstract of their project till March 3, 2020. For the second round, presentation of idea and project of each team was been judged for 277 teams and 192 teams qualified for the final round. 95 teams from 25 states of India have struggled and secured a position in the final round. Initially second round and final round was planned in offline mode, but due to COVID we rescheduled the event in virtual mode. The third and the final round included the submission of product demo and presentation which was completed on September 16, 2020. The ‘Terrifying Nightmares’ a team of six students of IIITN have secured 4th position. Members of winning team Saurav Gajbhiye, Purva Goydani, Vedant Gannarpwar, Harshal Khandait, Pranav Rabade and Kaushik Yelne, students of fourth year BTech, expressed their gratitude. Dr Ashwin Kothari, Dean, IIITN has graced the valedictory function of this mega event. Dr O G Kakde (Director), Dr A G Kothari (Dean), K N Dhakle (Registrar) and entire staff at IIITN have extended best wishes to the winning team.
