Lions club of Nagpur Legend formed in 2000 and one of the most active Lions Club in Lionistic District 3234H1 started its Service Week Celebration in Grand fashion on 2nd October 2020 by donating a COVID-19 Ambulance for the Service to the Society.
The Club has been in the forefronts of many path-breaking Service Activities over the years, which includes Donation of Solar Panel in Tribal Areas of Melghat, Fully equipped Ambulance, Van for School Children, Adoption of Narendra Nagar Bus stop, Lensometer and Equipment for Operation Theatre at Dr. Satav Hospital Melghat, etc.
In view of the current COVID 19 pandemic, the club felt that there is an acute shortage of ambulances in the city for these patients. Taking this into consideration and as a Service to the society, the Lions Club of Nagpur Legend decided to contribute its bit by procuring an ambulance, specifically dedicated to the COVID-19 patients. The maintenance and smooth running of the ambulance was another challenge. While searching for a good partner, the club came across Madhyam Lokseva Pratishthan, which has just started offering services of two ambulances to the benefit of the citizens absolutely free of cost.
The Pratishthan is led by Mohan Matey MLA, Nagpur South. The Club decided to donate the 3 rd such Ambulance to this Pratishthan, exclusively to be used for the benefits of the COVID 19 related cases. Today the same was donated to the Pratishthan at the Promarc Office, LIT Complex by the Hon. District Governor, MJF Sandip Khandelwal, in the presence of MLA Mohan Mate. Past District Governors MJF Vinod Verma and MJF Naveen Patel were also present. Speaking on the occasion Club President Lion Suneel Bhagat traced the history of the club and its Past Service Activities, and thanked the Pratishthan and the Hon. MLA Mohan Mate and its office bearers for their noble work and further thanked the Hon. District Governor and the Region Chairperson Lion Manisha Thakar for their continuous support and guidance to the club. Hon. MLA Mohan Mate thanked the club for their generous donation and for becoming a partner with them in the COVID-19 relief work.
The District Governor lion Sandip Khandelwal also congratulated the club and praised it for its continued onward journey in the field of Social Activities. He lauded the club for being a Model Lions Club. MJF Bandana Khandelwal, Club Secretary organized and conducted the entire program. The major contribution for the Ambulance came from Lion Mayuresh Katyayan and Lion Rahul Trivedi. The Ambulance will be available to all free of cost.
On the same occasion, the club also invited the office bearers of MAHAN Trust Melghat and handed over 700 new Spectacle Frames for the eye hospital donated by Vasant Opticals, Shankar Nagar, curtains for the hospital wards in the hospital, as well as clothes for the Tribals. The Club also donated four boxes of medicines mainly comprising of eye medicines. “Sight First†is the core work of Lions and the Lions Legend has always been at the forefront of this noble cause. Hence Eye related medicines were donated for the un-affording Tribal and rural patients of Melghat.
Dr. Satav hospital was also in need of PPE kits, sanitizer, and masks, for the COVID Warriors, which were also donated to the Trust by the Lions Legend. The Lions Club of Nagpur Legend has been continuously supporting the MAHAN Trust since last over 10 years, by supplying medicines, Lensometer for their Eye Hospital, and Equipment for their Operation Theatre. For Mahan Trust Manik and Dr. Sanjay Deotale thanked the club for its active support.
The arrangements for donations were made by Mayuresh Katyayan, Rahul Trivedi, and staff of Promarc Software Pvt Ltd. Also present on the occasion was, Lion Manisha Thakar Region Chairperson, Lion Vilas Sakhare, District Service week Chairperson, Lion Arun Chaturvedi District Cabinet Secretary, Lion Chetan Marwah, and other Cabinet Officers. MJF Rajeev Khandelwal, Dr. Yagnesh Thakar, Omprakash, and Parmadevi Khemani, Rahul Trivedi, Vinayak and Vaishali Kewadkar, Anjan Biswas, Madhav Vichore, Dr. Sanjay Deotale, Shantanu and Priya Khandelal, Ashsih and Neha Khemani, Sadhana Bhagat, Harsih Kalikar, Asif Chimthanawalla, Jagdish Kapoor all members of Lions Club Nagpur Legend were also present.
