Promising city chess player, Jay Sawalakhe reigned supreme in the first 960 Online Blitz Chess tournament, conducted by Power Chess Academy through the platform of ‘lichess.org’ here on Saturday.
Jay clinched the title with 8 points. The youngster notched up wins in all the eight rounds. Jay was followed by Sumedh Ramteke. Both Sumedh and Nilay Kulkarni ended up with six points each to their credit but with a better tie break score of 25, the former was adjudged as runner-up.
Best female prize was claimed by Vidhi Misrikotkar, who logged four points.
First time, Chess 960 format OLBCT was conducted for Nagpur district chess players by Power Chess Academy. Total 38 players participated in the tourney in which eight rounds were played.
The time control of five minutes was given to all the players to finish the game. The cash prizes were sponsored by Power Chess Academy and the players were given free of cost entry. This tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Deepak Chavan and FA Umesh Panbude.
