Under the banner of National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU), Railway cadre at Central Railway’s Nagpur Division will observe October 20 as All India Bonus Demand Day. The protest is organised on call given by All Indian Railwaymens’ Federation (AIRF) against delay in announcement of annual productivity linked bonus (PLB) on part of Railway Board. The decision on agitation was decided during an urgent meeting of Secretariat of NRMU held the other day and protest would be held at DRM office, depots, car sheds, running rooms etc.
Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, AIRF, pointed out that throughout COVID-19 pandemic time, railway employees did not let-up their guard down and ensured that the organisation revenue is stabilised. The record haulage of goods and running of parcel special underlined the commitment to duty that has brought rich dividends to Indian Railways. Apart from that during the pandemic, Railway employee also suffered a lot and many of them lost battle to COVID-19 and yet the ground force worked with vigour to keep the lifeline in working and shoring-up the economy. So it’s their rightful claim to PLB that is recognition of hard work put in by the Group D and C cadre and the delay on part of Railway Board is unusual.
