Ever since COVID has made a strong entry into our lives it’s a very wrong presumption that wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing, and sanitizing our hands at regular intervals is enough work to stop the spread of COVID from infecting us and our near and dear ones. But this is just the 30 percent part or just the one-third information. To stop COVID much more needs to be done to keep us and our family corona free. In short what it means that not everyone wearing the mask is wearing it in the right way and even if they are they are what needs to be done after that is to take proper care of it. Here are a few points that you need to ensure to make sure that the mask worn is doing its job and it’s just not a showpiece.
- Masks that only cover the mouth are just not enough as 80% of our breathing is done by nose and if we sneeze or a COVID infected person sneezes near us the purpose of masks will not be solved. So we need to wear masks that cover both mouth and nose.
- The story doesn’t end once we wear a proper mask. We have to make sure that we don’t constantly touch it.
- If it’s a disposable mask it’s okay but if we are planning to reuse it then proper care needs to be taken. Like while wearing it we don’t touch it frequently, warm water and detergent is used to wash the masks, and once washed it is dried in the sun. If the masks looks damaged and spoiled then not to use it again dispose it off and wash our hands properly.
- If the mask is wet due to water or sweat don’t use it as it can be more harmful. WHO states that face coverings must be replaced if they become a damp. So, remove your mask gently, throw it safely, or store it separately, and use a fresh one whenever needed.
Like it is always said that prevention is better than cure only when done in the right way. So, be mindful of not only how you wear the masks, but how to use. STAY SAFE, STAY PROTECTED FROM COVID.
