Under the banner of Joint forum of Unions and Associations thirteen unions conducted lunch hour demonstrations in Public Sector General Insurance Companies recently. The demonstrations were held demanding immediate re-commencement of negotiations on wage revision talks for an early settlement. They also demanded 1995 Pension Scheme to all by abolishing National Pension Scheme (NPS) also uniform family pension of 30 percent. At Nagpur the General Insurance employees staged demonstrations in front of regional office of United India Insurance Company Limited at Shankar Nagar.
The employees raised slogans condemning General Insurers Association of India for not taking initiatives for negotiations and Government of India for its anti-public sector policies. Working president of General Insurance Employees’ All India Association (GIEALA) Pradeep Dharamthok addressed the gathering. He said that in other financial sectors like banks and life insurance corporation wage revision talks were held and an offer has been given to the employees .In banks the settlement is finalized and in LIC 15 percent hike offered to the employees. But in PSGI companies after March 2019 no meeting was conducted. He reiterated the demand that the NPS should be abolished and the members of NPS should be governed under 1995 Pension Scheme.
