Amravati: Amid coronavirus pandemic, the teachers of unaided engineering colleges in Amravati district may have to face a dark Diwali this year as employees of non-granted engineering and technical college of Amravati division have not recieved thier salaries from the last six months. There are some who have not recevied payment from last 27 months.
The outbreak has affected many families badly this year. All the private engineering colleges that run their financial affairs on the basis of various scholarships received from the Department of Social Welfare and the government. But this year the colleges were closed due to implementation of lockdown across the state and so it did not received last year’s scholarship cheques from the department.
This year’s online portal for scholarships for 2020-2021 has not been launched yet. In such a situation, the teachers are going without pay from six to 27 months.
A memorandum regarding this has been presented to the Maharashtra Technical Staff Association (MTSA), Dr Murlidhar Chandekar,Vice Chancellor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Jadhav, Divisional Technical Education Director and to other concerned officials.
The delegation have appealed the concerned official to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
