Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) is organizing an e-Marathon from 15th to 19th November to celebrate World Toilet Day falling on 19th November and make people aware and educate them towards climate change and the importance of proper sustainable sanitation.
One of the organisers of the organization Ashish Ingole while speaking to The Live Nagpur said, “the whole purpose of organising this marathon is to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness, proper sanitation and to promote the idea of cleanliness, being healthy, fitness around the world.
The marathon has been divided into four categories depending on the distance which is 5kms, 10kms, 21kms, 42kms. Ingole said that first we decided to keep it just to the city but after seeing the response and with people coming from outside of the city wanting to take part in the marathon we decided to make this a bigger event. He said, “We have been getting calls from Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Satara and many other rural areas near the city with people wanting to take part in the competitionâ€.
Ingole mentioned that there will be no prizes that will be awarded to the participants who complete the task of completing the distance in the marathon as the aim of the competition is to promote cleanliness and hygiene with ‘a no profit no loss’ motto. Though he mentioned that people completing the marathon will be given e-certificates online.
