Maintaining his brilliant form, Shiva Iyer reigned supreme in the third Vidarbha-level Kisanrao Chavan Memorial Open Blitz online chess tournament, organised by Power Chess Academy, here on Monday. The meet was conducted through the platform of Lichess.org.
Shiva claimed the title with maximum nine points to his credit. The in-form player registered easy wins in all the nine rounds.
Jay Sawalakhe had to be satisfied with the runner-up spot with 8 points under his belt. The third position was secured by Suhan Deshpande with seven points to his kitty.
Best female prizes were captured by Aastha Turankar of Nagpur, Anjali Pawar of Amravati and Rashi Wairagade of Nagpur.
The total prize money of the tourney was Rs 3,000. Players from Nagpur, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Buldhana participated in the online meet, in which 38 players vied for the top honours.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Deepak Chavan and FA Umesh Panbude.
