Citizen’s carelessness will cause them immensely: Doctors

Everyone is concern about the second wave of the deadly virus and it is predicted by many experts that the second wave would bring more problems for the citizens. Nagpur saw a gradual decrease in the daily number of cases before Diwali. But the situation has been different since the last two days as the city saw an exponential jump in the daily cases. According to doctors, citizens are not taking precautions and are often seen disobeying the pandemic rules and this will cause them big time.

Dr Shailendra Mundhada of Dhruv Pathology Lab said, “It is very sad to see people in groups without any social distancing and masks. They are roaming as if nothing has ever happened and they do not need to be worried about anything. This is really very sad and as doctors, it really scares us. We would like to tell to every Nagpurian to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and take care of their hygiene and apart from work unless it’s really important not to step outside their house”.

Dr Sharmila Raut of IGGMC said, “COVID cases rising after Diwali doesn’t come as a surprise to us. We were expecting this and we are fully prepared to handle this. We are currently conducting 750 tests a day and are planning to increase it very soon”.

Doctors of the city have urged all the citizens to still follow the COVID guidelines and not to take the matter lightly. They said seeing the news of metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai they have become scared, and honestly speaking it’s a good thing that they are scared. They urged people not to hesitate and if they feel they have even the slightest bit of symptoms they should get themselves tested.

Dr Sunanda Shrikhande of GMCH said, “The COVID cases in the city are rising but the situation will not be as bad as it was in the month of August and September. Citizens don’t need to panic but need to be extremely careful”.
