With the support of five political parties who advocate the cause of Vidarbha, Nitin Ronghe is contesting in the upcoming biennial election to the Maharashtra Legislative Council as an independent candidate.
Sharing his thoughts with The Live Nagpur, Ronghe highlighted some major issues and problems faced by the people of Vidarbha.
“I am a simple common Vidarbhavadi who believes in separate Vidarbha which was promised by many leaders who had won election from Nagpur but they failed to fulfill their promise. I admire the people who had fought for a greater cause of separate Vidarbha and to fulfill the dreams of many I came into politics to give the citizens what they deserve.†He said.
“I have worked for 16 years to get a deep insight about the problems of Vidarbha, the suffering of youths in finding jobs in the region, and the problems faced by people because of the poor irrigation system, education system. I know the root cause of these problems, thus, our problems will not end until a separate Vidarbha is formed for the betterment of people†he informed.
When asked about the chances of winning against the two political giants he said “Yes, they are two giant political parties with big infrastructure, funding. Since they have ditched us over the basic need of citizens this fight is a triangular fight between these two parties and Vidarbhavadi. My power is that Vidarbhavadi, who wants a separate state those are my well-wishers and supporters. People are joining in the cause and they are showing their support and showering blessing on us. There is a silent wave of separate Vidarbha everywhere so they have to be cautiousâ€.
Sharing his ideas on what facilities he would give people of Vidarbha after winning the election he said “My first priority is to create job opportunities for the youths of Vidarbha, I have also included this in my manifesto that I will create one lakh job opportunities in the region for the youths. After becoming MLC my first task will be to visit industries in the ‘MIHAN’ region and will tackle the problems faced by them as MIHAN has the potential of creating 1-2 lakh job opportunities. I am ready to become salesmen for the people of Vidarbha to bring industriesâ€.
Speaking of the migration of youths to other cities in order to find a better prospectus he informed that “My demand with the Vidarbha power plants is that as we have given you space to put the industry and utilising the sources of the region then they must give 10% production cost to the industries as it will reduce the cost and will also give development opportunities to the region. There is also a rule in Orissa, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana that the region which produces the minerals and ores has to process it in the same state. We know that Vidarbha has many minerals, ores in its soil but the same rule is not implemented in the region as these minerals and sent to other places for processing and this is one of the important problems as it creates a hurdle in generating job opportunities. If these minerals are processed in the Vidarbha region then job opportunities will be createdâ€.
“Another major problem is as per Nagpur pact Section 8, Article 371(2), Government directed August 5, 1995, Vidarbha youths were promised to get job opportunities in government sector in the proportion of their population. But as promised it was not given and I am going to fight for it for the people of Vidarbha. To bring these small changes is possible but someone has to take charges in their hand for the betterment of peopleâ€.
“Bringing industries in the region is another priority as it was promised that the region will witness industrialization but the promise is still not fulfilled, we need to have a team who will make a track on the number of industries which comes in the region. Another major problem is of irrigation system due to which people had suffered many timesâ€.
“Another problem is of the environment as there are many power-plants and which generates pollution which is slowly affecting the health of people. I demand that these plants must use all the safety precautions and resort to purifying measures before disposing of out in open†he added.
My first priority will be to deal with these problems to provide the facilities to the people as I have been working for the welfare of the people.
My message is that I am a common Vidarbhavadi and is contenting this election for a better cause so that Vidarbha will become a separate state so that the region becomes self-reliant. I need your support for this.
