On the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic, the entire world is in a race to get the first anti-dot of the virus. The vaccine for the deadly virus may take some more time to get introduced to the world, but somewhere every laboratory, institutions and scientists are trying to invent stuff that can at-least prevent a person from getting infected with the virus.
In such a scenario, a research conducted at the Department of Biotechnology of Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University on nanotechnology by Prof Dr Aniket Gade from the Department and Dr Rajesh Raut from Homibhabha State University, Mumbai, have developed a silver nano mask under guidance of Dr Mahendrakumar Roy, former Head of Department and UGC BSR Fellow. The very protective mask was inaugurated by the hands of Dr Murlidhar Chandekar, Vice Chancellor of the Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University.
The silver nano mask has been recently launched by the SGAU V-C Dr Murlidhar Chandekar and others during an event in Amravati.
The Silver Nano Mask, developed by University’s Department of Biotechnology, is 99 percent easy to use, lightweight and easy to wash, and can be reused, fits the skin and fits snugly. The silver nanoparticles are made from ‘neem’ extract. It has three lay- ers with a silver nanoparticles coating on the outer layer. The mask will protect against corona infection. This mask is of European standard type-2.
The Silver nano particles on the mask kill all bacteria and viruses. The mask has been tested by the Government Textile Research Laboratory and proved to be 99 % effective.
The positive side of the invention is, that it has been made in a cheap price.
Prof Dr. Mahendra Kumar Roy and his team in collaboration with the Italian Research Collaborator,Prof Massimillano Galdeiro, have tested the antiviral properties of the mask against SARS Covid-2.
Amogh Biosolution Private Limited, Amravati and SAR Enterprises Pvt , Mumbai are taking initiative for commercial production of the silver Nano mask.
