Finally, after much delay construction work of the underpass at Manas Square has begun. The work has begun near Cotton Market Square. As per reports, the demolition of the Tekdi flyover is also on the cards. The work is been done by Maha Metro.
The authorities have made sure that due to this construction the traffic does not get affected as the traffic can go from both boxes but only from one side- from Tekdi Road and the one coming from Railway Station. The demolition has begun before the Hanuman temple for which small shops of watches, key makers were removed.
This means the Loha Bridge underpass would be closed while the other one through which the traffic from Cotton Market Square comes will remain open.
The Statue of Sant Tulsidas at Manas Square will be shifted. Maha Metro is planning to beautify the space. Authorities have made it clear that the temple of Goddess Durga that is standing right in front of the present Loha Bridge underpass will not be demolished. The part of Ramjhula that lands near the office of DRM would be extended to Kingsway Hospital.
The time to complete these projects was July 2020, but because of the pandemic, it has been extended to July 2021.
