Citing the chances of a second wave in the city Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Wednesday issued an order to extend the closure of schools in the city till January 3, 2021.
Earlier it was decided that schools in City will reopen from December 13, but with the continuous surge in the daily COVID cases in the city, Municipal Commissioner has decided to postpone the opening of schools till January 3.
Online education will continue as per the guidelines issued by the government so that students do not have to stop learning even if the school is closed. The Class 10th and 12th supplementary examinations will continue as per schedule.
The incidence of corona in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation area is under some control. However, the threat cannot be avoided given the global outbreak of covid. The second wave of Corona is appearing in many countries of the world.
Since Diwali, the number of corona cases in Nagpur city has been rising. The order also clarifies that in case of non-compliance or objection to the implementation of the order, legal action will be taken against the person concerned as per Section 188 of the Infectious Diseases Control Act, 1897 and Indian Penal Code, 1860.
