Censports 2020 in its online edition commenced with a grand virtual inaugural on 10/12/2020. The inaugural was telecast live on Youtube at 17:00 IST. Censports is the annual Inter-School sports meet hosted by Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass to encourage sports at the grass root level.
However, due to safety concerns arising as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, Censports is being conducted on a virtual platform. This year Censports has accomplished a great milestone of acquiring international reach with 83 entries of students from the USA, UAE, Oman, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Bahrain.
With participation of 1830 children in the age groups of 7 to 17 years, from 433 schools around the world, the 10 day long inter-school sports meet is all set to become a one of its kind grand online sporting event. Chess, Fitness Challenge, Karate (Kata), and Speedcubing are the 4 sports which will be conducted online during the course of the Censports.Censports was officially declared open by the Director of Centre Point Group of Schools, Mrs. Radhika Rajwade Ma’am. Radhika Ma’am in her address wished the participants the best for the sporting event; she also appreciated the enthusiasm on part of the staff for organising the event and on the participants for taking up the challenge of online sporting. To mark the commencement of Censports, the Principal of Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass, Mrs. Radhika Mehra, Vice-Principals of Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass, Mrs. Perveen Cassad and Mrs. Anita Sharma, HOD Sports Department, Centre Point School, Amravati Road Mr. Chetak Khedikar released the balloons.
To encourage fair play during the course of Censports, the school’s best athletes Parul Gondane and Aishita Chhabda took the oath which the participants repeated. Parul is a National level Martial Artist while Aishita is a National level Chess player. Team India’s well-known all-rounder cricketer, Mr. Karn Sharma and the famous Badminton player Malvika Bansod who is ranked 2nd in women’s singles and 162nd at the international levels motivated the participants and wished them a joyous and prosperous sporting experience.
The school choir sang a motivational melody to lift the spirits of the participants. The Executive Director of Centre Point Group of Schools Mrs. Mukta Chatterjee Ma’am in her address wished the participants the very best and acknowledged the efforts taken by the school and the organizers for conducting Censports online. The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks wherein gratitude was expressed towards the Directors of the school and the dignitaries for their presence and for guiding the participants.
The organisers of the Censports from the Sports for All team and the official sponsor Enerzal were also thanked for their noteworthy efforts for organising and supporting the Censports. The press and the electronic media were also thanked for covering a d promoting the events of the Censports. The first round of sporting events of the Censports begins tomorrow i.e. on 11/12/2020.
